While we usually frown upon monotony, sometimes it’s good. It starts with 5 people waking up at different places at different times with different motivations. We push ourselves in the morning because at the end of the day we all have something to accomplish each. We do our typical yet different morning routines and leave home for office with all having a completely different frame of mind. Its weird how in two hours before work, our minds go through many moods. We take our usual commutes, see the same people we see everyday along our route, wait in traffic for the same amount of time and reach office around almost the same time.
We enter office with a mindset that was different from the one we left home with. We talk to each other, laugh about something and then settle down. The lady who cleans the office every day comes by and does her work. She wishes us good morning every single day even if we fail to do so. She finishes her work and leaves. After which, we get started on the tasks of the day and at the same time have tiny bits of conversations from time to time. There are instances in the day where we feel uninspired and that’s when a coffee break takes the central stage. Walking to the coffee shop with the other colleagues while talking about something sets the course for motivation that is required for the rest of the day.
After working for some more time, we break for lunch. It’s 40 mins of sharing different cuisines that probably don’t ever go together but makes the break even better. It’s filled with serious conversations, fun moments and happy instances. We don’t realise the fact that in the 40 mins we were laughing together, we create memories that last a lifetime. At times we have a few others also who join us for lunch. After lunch, a few feel inspired while some feel lazy and laid back. Whatever we may feel, we do our work. We tease each other about something or the other and create plans for the weekend which we probably never do.
At the end of the day, we pack our bags and leave home together. We leave behind a part of ourselves at work and carry the rest back home. On the way back, we think about the moments of the day and look forward to creating new ones and learning more the following day. This is what a typical day of work can look like.
