What Goes Behind Making An Advertisement?

On an average, every person sees up to 6000 – 10,000 ads every single day. We know it sounds shocking but it’s true. This can entail ads in the newspaper, TV, YouTube, Spotify, Instagram, Billboards, flyers, banners and much more. Advertisements have become an unavoidable part of our lives. If you are someone who makes advertisements, you know what it takes to make an ad, and if you are on the receiving end, you know how certain advertisements influence you.

The way we look at advertisements are actually very small and usually goes unnoticed. While walking around the house we hear advertisements on the TV. Most of the time, we don’t listen to it, but at times the tag lines stick with us forever. We listen to ads on the radio while switching stations. We even walk by countless advertisements on billboards, banners, posters, etc. A lot seems to happen around us, but we tend to remember only a fraction of it.

When on the receiving end, most people don’t seem to know what goes behind making an advertisement. The smallest of advertisement takes time and effort in order to make it eye catching and to keep the consumers hooked on. Even a creative on Instagram with less than 50 characters is one that is difficult to do as it requires digging into your brain and quite a few times we content writers run out of words and the designers can also run out of ideas which leads to a stuck stage.

How do we make advertisements that stick on forever and one that doesn’t leave the minds of consumers? We brainstorm for ideas! A copy of 6 words can take us just 5 minutes or it can also take us 5 hours. Our team was recently working on a brand’s advertisement and the time it took to create it was just exhausting. The work entailed a newspaper advertisement with just a few words. Sounds easy right? Wrong. We took 3 hours with one brainstorming session, 2 breaks, editing the copy thrice and changing the design twice. The brainstorming session made us dwell deep into the work of the company to find the words that best describe the brand, create an image of it in our heads and then design the creative for the company that goes with the image in the mind. The graphic team had to create an image that goes perfectly with the brand and one that catches your eye instantly. The content team had to write a copy that sticks in your mind forever. The text should be so powerful that it should never leave you and at the same time it should be simple so that you can remember it easily.

Brainstorming is of high importance because without that each person in the team is lost and stuck in the same place. We create ads that’ll never leave you and ones that will make your consumers stick with you forever. It definitely takes time to reach that level of perfection but we never let it go until that’s achieved.
